A day without water

Well, Riya woke up in the morning to find out that the taps were dry! Niether could she bathe nor could she brush! She rushed down, famished and paranoid, for breakfast. However, her mother gave her news that left her petrified!! Her mother could not cook food as there was no water. Riya was on the verge of tears! She decided to skip school as she felt horrible without food and especially without water! A natural disaster was stirring, she thought!
He mother consoled her and convinced her not come out for a walk with her. The minute she went out, she felt a dry zephyr (like a loo) blowing! The fiery ball was at its heigh!! The plants were dry and the leaves were brown. Riya wished for the petrichor of the rain and a downpour at that moment. The government had declared a holiday as there was not even an ounce of water in sight.
Riya knew that the matter was ineluctable and wanted to take immediate action!! She and her friends started a drive of planting trees!! Even though they were parched, they went from house to house spreading the need of water conservation!
The next day, by god's sake it rained!! The people were exhilarated! Imagine what would have happened if it had not rained...…… Save water!!!
